Hiking West Virginia

This hike travels up Polly Hollow past several rock outcrops to the top of Wildcat Ridge then down to Davis Creek before looping back around the ridge to the starting point. Located in the figurative “back yard” of the state capital is the 9,300-acre Kanawha State Forest.

In addition to 25 miles of trails, the State Forest has a playground for the kids, picnic areas for meals, and a swimming pool to relax in after a fun hike. The shooting range will help you prepare for the upcoming hunting seasons. With all that Kanawha State Forest has to offer the nearby metro population, it’s no wonder it is a popular outdoor destination. Special attractions: Rock outcrops and hardwood forest.
