Moncove Lake State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Moncove Lake is situated in a quiet mountain valley off the beaten path. The lake lies at the southeasternmost edge of West Virginia's ridge and valley country, in the Sweet Springs Valley. In 1959, Devils Creek was dammed to make this mountain impoundment, which provides 144 acres of clear water ready for anglers and small boaters. Middle Mountain and Cove Mountain form scenic bastions overlooking Moncove Lake. Add a little development and a campground with one loop especially suited to tent camping and you have a true recreation destination.
Things don't get hopping at Moncove Lake until Memorial Day, when the campers really roll in, to enjoy not only the lake but also the swimming pool. The pool is set on the shores of Moncove Lake, offering a great view with all the conveniences of swimming in a man-made environment."
