Rocky to Rhododendron Trail Loop - Valley Falls State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"When you hear waterfalls a half mile away, you know they’re worth a look. Indeed, the centerpiece of Valley Falls State Park is the Tygart Valley River and its multiple waterfalls, chutes, and whitewater rushing around an obstacle course of boulders.
The hike begins at the centerpiece set of falls, the first on a 500-foot-wide river, falling 14 feet, followed shortly downstream by a 200-foot- wide cascade tumbling another 18 feet. This loop begins and ends near the falls, but takes you away from them in the meantime as it transects the park’s ridges and valleys in second-growth hardwood forest. A number of trails crisscross, allowing you to create a hike of whatever length you please."
