Laurel Creek of the Elk River Erbacon to Centralia

Laurel Creek of the Elk River: Erbacon to Centralia Professional Review and Guide

"Laurel Creek follows CR 9 out of Cowen for about 15 miles, gathering tributaries as it goes. Six miles above Erbacon it becomes large enough to paddle and it looks like Class 2+ from the road.

Erbacon is about as remote a town as you’ll find in West Virginia! The stream here is flat, but then the road goes over the mountain and the creek heads toward a narrowing gap at the end of the valley. Things start to happen suddenly at the end of the flat water and don’t let up until Sutton Lake is reached."
