Laurel River Trail North

Laurel River Trail North Professional Review and Guide

"The Laurel River Trail North meanders along the pristine Laurel Fork beneath a canopy of tall cove hardwoods. Congress designated the Laurel Fork Wilderness complex, containing almost 12,200 acres, in 1983. The wilderness area is a narrow valley through which the Laurel Fork flows.

The crest of Rich Mountain serves as the eastern boundary of the wilderness, while the crest of Mill Mountain serves as the western boundary. The Laurel Fork is also home to native populations of brook and brown trout, making fly-fishing another popular pastime within the confines of the wilderness. Special attractions: A beautiful hike along the fast-flowing Laurel Fork River, beaver dams, and wide-open glades."
