Williams River The Williams above Tea Creek to Gauley River

Williams River: The Williams above Tea Creek to Gauley River Professional Review and Guide

"The Williams begins as a trout stream smothered with branches high in the mountains of Pocahontas County. Eventually it opens, reaching a smooth section, then picks up to Class 2–3 water as it nears Sugar Creek. Below Tea Creek Bridge the Williams is picturesque and remote.

It’s a little river with very big ideas. At moderate levels it’s a great play river with lots of good eddies, waves, and surfing holes. The last section of the Williams is considerably tamer but no less interesting. There is good wave action where the river turns corners, cuts through islands, or encounters the occasional large boulder."
