Alum Cave Trail - Audra State Park

Alum Cave Trail - Audra State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The ease-to-scenery ratio is in your favor at Audra State Park. This short loop hike takes you through a hemlock and rhododendron forest; parallels the swift, boulder-strewn Middle Fork River; and leads you via boardwalk under a massive recess cave.

Once you’ve finished your hike—complete with finding your own personal swimming hole—bed down for the night at the campground along the class-IV Middle Fork."

Hiked this in late August 2007. Very quiet (we were the only ones on the trail on a Saturday morning). Easy walk, with one encounter with a boulder. Trail isn't really well marked, but is easy to follow. Great path for kids...lots of vegetation, variety of mushrooms, rhodendrons, trees, ferns, etc.
