"The Trout Pond Recreation Area is located in the West Virginia portion of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests on the western slope of Long Mountain.

This area of the state is marked by 50-mile-long ridges, bucolic farm valleys, and tall mountains. A popular destination for fishing—trout and other species—the Trout Pond Recreation Area is also home to a dozen miles of trail. This loop takes you along the shores of azalea- lined Rock Cliff Lake and past Chimney Rock before bringing you back to the lake again."
