Clear Fork of the Coal River Clear Creek to Whitesville

Clear Fork of the Coal River: Clear Creek to Whitesville Professional Review and Guide

"Though it is a major tributary of the Coal, Clear Fork can only be run when the Coal is at very high levels. Ledges, cars, and furniture form most rapids.

It was noted while sitting in an eddy behind a sofa that the rapids here come in both white and coppertone. Because this is a very small stream, footbridges, fallen trees, and playground sets can be problems. Once past the bridges at Ameagle the river provides good beginner whitewater with the usual fallen-tree and foot-bridge hazards."
