Ice Age Trail: Whitewater Lake Segment Professional Review and Guide
"Another excellent segment of the national scenic trail, this path climbs moraines through Kettle Moraine State Forest’s Southern Unit before ending at Whitewater Lake. Find wood-beam and earth steps to an aspen colony, and then enter a clearing with a bench overlooking the surrounding area from the top of the ridge. Head back into the woods 100 feet later via steps down through more aspen. Brush thins out and, 0.25 mile from the bench and overlook, oaks start to dominate. The path follows along the top of moraines with good shade and nice views into the creases between them. Wildflowers appear along the trail from spring to fall. The path has a lot of stray rocks, which can make footing tricky when the leaves fall and cover them."
