A Dip by the Eau Claire Dells Professional Review and Guide

"The Placid Eau Claire River, which flows into the Wisconsin River, cascades over a series of limestone outcroppings 15 miles east of Wausau in central Wisconsin. Marathon County has built a beautiful park-Eau Claire River Dells County Park-at a site that is virtually in the middle of nowhere. There are no towns nearby, and the countryside is given over to farmland.

The park is the rare kind of place that seems known only to locals-which is all the better for visitors. Just below the bridge at County Highway Y, the river, not more than a wide stream at this point, flows through, over, and around a staircase of rough bluffs. Upstream, just across County Y, there are camping facilities and a beach. The park has playgrounds, hiking trails, bathrooms, shelters, and drinking water."

The Eau Claire Dells is a great hike! The trails are well marked and not overly difficult to hike. The scenery is great and the sound of water rushing over the rocks is relaxing. This would be a great family day. The hike is great for an easy day out. Very kid an pet friendly location with supervision. This is also a great place for snowshoeing in the winter.1
