Point Beach State Forest

Point Beach State Forest Professional Review and Guide

"Point Beach State Forest offers 3.1 miles of mountain bike riding on the Red Pine loop of its trail system. The forest, covering 2,900 acres, is located on the shores of Lake Michigan just south of the Door County Peninsula.

The main feature of this narrow strip of land is the 6 miles of sandy beach that runs the length of the eastern side of the park. After a morning ride the temptation to spend the afternoon lounging on the beach is hard to resist. Most of the loop is through pine and birch forest, over grass, wood chips, and hardpack. Because of the area’s unique geological history, much of the trail is covered in sand or is composed of a soil/sand mixture."
