Ocooch Mountain Challenge

Ocooch Mountain Challenge Professional Review and Guide

"Here's a tour to take on once you've gotten your climbing legs in shape. You'll have to tackle four steep, 400- foot climbs to cover the whole route. It's all part of the plan. The annual Ocooch Mountain Fall Bike tour was designed with challenge in mind. It takes place on the first weekend of October in conjunction with Richland Center's apple harvest festival, Centerfest, and the tour also features shorter 12- and 35- mile loops. This is a time of year when cyclists unusually have a decent conditioning base.

Bring on the mountains. Ok, 400-foot hills aren't exactly mountains, but they've been called the Ocooch Mountains since the earliest explorers came through, and the climbs are steep enough to make your muscles feel like they are. The orchard is the last place to take on food or water for a long distance. You're in for a long, high-speed downhill run into the valley of Mill Creek on County Q. The valley scenery is hard to beat along County E."
