Rowan Creek Trail

Rowan Creek Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This is one of the more bucolic and pleasant hikes in southern Wisconsin, with paths looping through the woods and along Rowan Creek just outside the town of Poynette. The hike takes in diverse habitats over its short length, including wetlands, a coldwater stream, prairie, and both upland and lowland forest, with a variety of trees and wildlife to spot along the paths.

Rowan Creek is one of the more highly regarded trout streams in the state, with brown trout and numerous other fish darting through the clear waters. The creek flows from the fishery area into Lake Wisconsin and the Wisconsin River."
