New Glarus Woods State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"A pleasant hike along a path that runs over modest hills and through a thick swath of woods, New Glarus Woods State Park sits amidst rolling farmland south of Madison. The park, which lies on the boundary between the Driftless Area with its steep hills and the rolling prairie to the east, is also a popular spot for camping and picnics.
The Havenridge Trail, which makes up most of the hike, is marked with numbered signs that correspond to entries in the Havenridge Trail Companion Booklet, which is available at the park office. The park also has Discovery Backpacks full of activities perfect for kids who want to hike and explore the park.
The hike also swings by an access trail for the Sugar River Trail, which runs for over 20 miles on an abandoned railroad bed, following the Sugar River and its tributaries"
