Stewart County Park Professional Review and Guide
"Multiple loops take you through a ravine and thick woods and over a hill of restored prairie for a fantastic view of the countryside. A spring-fed creek feeds the diminutive Stewart Lake. Stewart Park was the first park in the Dane County park system. Central to the property is Stewart Lake, which was created by a dam on a spring-fed creek. Located just north of Mount Horeb, it is nestled in at the edge of some of the residential neighborhoods but offers good wilderness and a hilltop view of the surrounding countryside. Restrooms are located right at the parking lot. The trail begins at the end of the parking lot and follows an asphalt path from the lot right along forest. Water runs down this channel after heavy rains. There’s a pavilion to the left and a playground in this mowed area."
