Bearskin State Trail

Bearskin State Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Ride from the thriving resort town of Minocqua into the heart of the Northwoods wilderness, enjoying scenic lake views and a fine city park near the Minocqua trailhead. Surface: Finely crushed granite with wood-planked bridges.

Prepare for a very long distance between any services on the southern end of the trail. The last 9.3 miles are without any on-trail water or facilities. Mosquitoes are very common. Repellent is recommended for rest stops. Wisconsin State Trails have a carry-in/carry-out policy. Make provisions for carrying out any refuse. No trash receptacles are provided on-trail."

One of the best trails in the state, if not the best. Shaded almost the entire trail with pristine views of lakes, ponds, and woodland areas. The only negative is on the southern end of the trail(last 9 miles) there is nowhere to go for water or to buy something to drink so if you do the entire trail there is an 18 mile stretch with no spot to get something to drink, so bring extra.
