Smrekar Trail Cluster - Black River State Forest Professional Review and Guide
"Black River State Forest riding can be divided into two sections. The first, covered in this chapter, contains the Pigeon Creek connecting trail that joins the state forest campground to the Smrekar Trail Cluster. The riding in this area is exciting, rugged, and wild. When combining this section of trails with the Wildcat trails to the northwest, an entire weekend can easily be spent spinning loops in this diverse section of central Wisconsin. The trails are all ridden under the cover of the oak, pine, and aspen forest that makes up the Black River State Forest.
Elevation Change: While there are no climbs whatsoever on the Pigeon Creek Trail, the Smrekar Cluster has a countless number of climbs, many in the 100-foot range. The Ridge Trail in particular is a bear with two main climbs of 200+ feet, both taking every bit of energy a rider can muster."
