Levis/Trow Mounds Professional Review and Guide

"The trails in this section of Wisconsin, just north of the Black River State Forest, are among the most exciting and rewarding in all the state. This cluster is one of the most overlooked in all the land and offers climbing of a sort not normally found outside of mountainous regions.

Every ingredient necessary for great mountain biking is found here—stunning, unobstructed views, incredible singletrack, and beautiful medium-paced cross-country trails to transport riders around the grounds. Elevation Change: The singletrack climbing to the tops of the mounds makes up some 200+ feet of elevation, though in quick bursts instead of drawn out sections. The climbing is actually so fun and intense, taking place on narrow ledges, that it is easy to ignore the physical strain."

Awesome trail system ! A must do ! Kudos to the trail builders and maintainers . We used our phones to take pics of the map system at the trail head Kiosk so we could zoom in and out . The paper maps that were there were water damaged .

Great riding. The scenery is beautiful, the trail well-maintained and the markings very easy to follow. This is actually a cluster of trails, so you can ride more than the posted 12 miles if you follow them all. Some of the loops are nice enough to do twice. Stay in Black River Falls for an easy drive to the trail.

Winter is off limits, even to hikers, in order to maintain the meticulously groomed ski trails. Any of the other three seasons, however, are fair game. Fall is particularly breathtaking from the vistas as the colors change, spring provides clear trails, and summer as always is a bit hot.
