Red Cedar Challenge

Red Cedar Challenge Professional Review and Guide

"This route begins in one of Wisconsin’s early settlements and makes a circle tour around the Red Cedar Trail. After traveling the city streets past the Stout College campus, the route takes you south for a rest stop option in a town with a jail cell in the backyard of the museum. You continue south and cross the Red Cedar River to an early town where the county courthouse once stood. After passing through this village of yesteryear, ride west. Here the terrain becomes lush green, and you will find a number of rollers as you approach a town that the French explorers named for the gravel banks of the river that flows through it.

The route circles to the north and comes back briefly east to the Red Cedar Trail before veering off to the northwest, where the fun really begins. For those who love the adrenaline rush of Wisconsin’s hills, this section of the challenge offers two major climbs. As you turn back to the northeast after the second climb, you will enjoy several miles of easy riding as you slide into another sleepy little river town before passing the Devil’s Punch Bowl. You then ride north along the river and soon return to Menomonie."
