Bagley Rapids Campground Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"If you look at a map of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, you will see many private inholdings, denoted in white, amid the holdings owned by the U.S. Forest Service, shaded in green. While scouring campgrounds in Wisconsin, I was certainly glad that the Bagley Rapids Campground along the North Branch Oconto River was “in the green.”
This destination at the southern end of the Nicolet lies on the North Branch of the Oconto River, a scenic watercourse that originates in lake-studded lands around the hamlet of Wabeno. From Wabeno, the North Branch of the Oconto twists, turns, and falls southward, pausing repeatedly to drop over granite rocks. In other places, the river becomes blocked by fallen timber, forming dark hideaways for the trout that lurk in its waters."
