Governor Dodge Horse Trail Professional Reviews and Guides
"Hike the shores and climb the rocky bluffs overlooking Cox Hollow Lake. Then visit a prehistoric rock shelter. From the trailhead, pass to the right of the concessions stand and a trail kiosk. Go straight ahead downhill just 400 feet to where the water flows over the dam to the right. Cross a wide wooden bridge to see the water tumbling over rocks to your left. Either follow the asphalt path straight across or, better yet, climb the earthen dam to your right and follow along the top of it as it skirts Cox Hollow Lake. There are no natural lakes in the south-eastern corner of the state, known as the Driftless Zone; the glaciers didn’t arrive here to leave damming deposits in river valleys. To the right, you can see rocky cliffs on the other side of the lake."
