Fond du Lac Professional Review and Guide
"French explorers first visited the Fond du Lac area in the early 1700s and established a trading outpost on the south shore of Lake Winnebago, Wisconsin’s largest body of water at 215 square miles. Winnebago is 30 miles long and from 5 to 10 miles wide, extending from Winnebago County in the west to Fond du Lac County on the south and Calumet County on the east. The city name is derived from the French, meaning “the far end of the lake.”
The lake is a fantastic recreational outlet. This eTrail from the DayTrips series describes many fascinating, exciting, (and many free of charge) things to do, most within a two-hour drive of Milwaukee. Each Day Trip includes destination highlights, places to visit along the way, choice restaurants and lodging, and shopping."
