Scuppernong Trail Professional Review and Guide
"Some of the most scenic and peaceful stretches of woodland can be found on this hike in Kettle Moraine State Forest, with lots of massive pines and other trees along the path. The hiking area, like others in the forest, consists of interlocking paths designated by different colors. The hike follows the trail’s green loop, with the Ice Age Trail cutting across its northeast section. An observation loop takes you to a long view over the surrounding valley.
The southern unit of the forest covers 20,000 acres and stretches 30 miles from the village of Dousman at its northern end to the larger town of Whitewater near the southern end. The forest headquarters, which includes a visitor center with maps and a small museum, is located just west of the town of Eagle. This trail is to the north of Eagle, so it’s easiest to self-pay for your permit at the trailhead. If you pick up your permit at the headquarters, you’ll have to double back to reach the trailhead."
