Kettle Moraine State Forest—Northern Unit Summit Trail

Kettle Moraine State Forest—Northern Unit: Summit Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Short and sweet but also a bit steep. Situated inside Long Lake Recreation Area, this trail climbs the third-highest point in the entire Kettle Moraine—Dundee Mountain. Actually a moulin kame, this mound of glacial deposits rises 270 feet above the land.

The views from the slope are exceptional, and at the top you can see the forest sloping away in all directions. The descending return trail crosses an esker and goes past an erratic. Some educational signage along the route enhances the experience and teaches some ice age geological vocabulary."
