"Located in the Telemark Resort, 2 miles southeast of Cable. Tread: 1.9 miles on paved roads; 1.3 miles on gravel road; 3.8 miles on singletrack."

This is a nice ride -- neither the hills nor the sand were as bad as the guide made them sound. Except for the fairly high aerobic level of this ride, it is not difficult (no particular technical challenges). The intial hills are a workout, but then the terrain becomes rolling. I saw deer frequently and a bear up in the "meadow" portion of the ride! I combined this ride with the later portion of the "Short & Fat" (by taking Spider Lake Fire Lane down to Timber Trail). This made a very nice afternoon of riding. but, the additional hills on the Birkie Trail might be more than some riders want.

This is truly one of my favorite trails ever. Beautiful, beautiful scenery, gut busting climbs, ripping meadow descents. Do it by yourself, or share the experience with a friend. This trail is WORTH the drive.
