Trout Point

Trout Point Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Leave the more popular and frequented Presque Isle area and cross Stockton Island to its secluded north side at Trout Point. Either as a long day hike or an overnight trip with a stay at the campsite there, this trek offers a wide, private lake view at a sandy beach far from the madding crowd.

Trout Point, on Stockton Island’s quiet north shore, may be the most remote walk-in campsite in the Apostle Islands. When you sit here it is easy to feel as if you have inherited an entire private ecosystem. Somehow the view seems both intimate and boundless as your eyes wander from the nearby beach to the watery horizon and far-off shores. Morning and evening shows are spectacular as the changing light turns the water a zillion shades of blue. Groups of loons swim by the campsite, while others join mergansers in the off shore waters."
