Naches Ramble

Naches Ramble Professional Review and Guide

"The small, orchard-filled Naches Valley sits at the base of the Cascade Mountains, just northwest of Yakima. This route is one of the most popular bike rides in the Yakima area, looping around the valley on the older highways.

The Naches Valley fruit orchards offer sensual delights to bicyclists all year. In spring, bright and fragrant blossoms shower the road from a dozen different fruits and fruit varieties, each with its own color and smell. Blocks of various trees bloom in a progression that starts with orchards in the lower valley and moves up to higher levels as the season progresses. Terrain: hilly ride, but no major climbs. Light to moderate traffic."

The ride thru the lower valley is very nice, winding thru orchards and fields. The side trip up to Wenas Lake is very tough, with the hill being much longer than the 350 on the guide. Its is also very windy up on top of the ridge and not much to look at. The lake is just a hole in the ground surrounded by dirt.
