Hike along a mostly open ridgeline with fantastic views and tons of flowers, from a poorly marked trailhead on Forest Road 41 to the summit of Silver Star Mountain. This entire area was burned in the 1902 Yacolt Burn. Much of the burned area has not naturally reforested itself and has not been replanted with trees, leaving many ridges and slopes mostly open. This openness gives the area a more alpine character than the altitude would suggest.
