Young Hill/ Bell Point Trail

Young Hill/ Bell Point Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Stroll along the placid bay waters surrounding Bell Point, or peer down at them from the grassy and ledgy slopes of Young Hill. Better yet, combine these fine hikes that lie within San Juan Island Nation-al Historical Park’s English Camp.

Once a British Royal Marine garrison, the grounds are now peacefully administered by the National Park Service for resource protection and heritage preservation. The United States and Great Britain nearly went to war over this piece of land, but sane heads prevailed, leaving you to enjoy a beautiful corner of the San Juans permanently protected from assaults from the modern world. Cheers."

This is a good hike even for a novice. The view from the top is superb and the ascent quite manageable. There is a large open area up top to enhance the vista. Don't miss the English cemetary half way up and then be sure to hike the very flat American camp on the other end of the island.
