Methow Trail / Sun Mountain Trails

Methow Trail / Sun Mountain Trails Professional Review and Guide

"The 6.3-mile Methow Trail is a combination of singletracks, doubletracks, gravel roads, and a touch of pavement. All of these parts form a link between the town of Winthrop and a concentrated network of loops known as the Sun Mountain Trails. The Sun Mountain Trails comprise 30 miles of singletracks, doubletracks, and gravel roads. From the valley floor, the Methow Trail climbs west toward Patterson lake and into the mountains.

The difficulty of the climb and the technical difficulty of the trail vary constantly. Most of the ride is on good surfaces, but there are many sections of loose and/or embedded rocks and a couple of short sandy stretches. Sun Mountain Trails offer circuits suitable to all ability levels. Scenery: Methow trail climbs through meadows and hillsides to reach the Sun Mountain Trails; Sun Mountain Trails pass by lakes, cruise through dense timber, and roll across flowered meadows."
