Detailed Trail Descriptions from Our Guidebooks

"Bothell Landing, on the north bank of the SammamishRiver, is a quaint step back in time. This park contains one of the first pioneer cabins in the area and a collection of later Victorian homes that now house a historical museum and an event space. A footbridge crosses the river to the 11-mile Sammamish River Trail, which hikers can follow in either direction. This hike follows a short segment of the trail along the river to the right." This is an easy trail leading along the river, busy but even on a sunny day like today it wasn't too crowded. The trail leads along peaceful river with many great views of it snaking through it's coridor. There are several places with picnic tables along the trail where you can sit and enjoy the views. We started at Gateway Park in Woodinville and from there to Marymoore Park in Redmond the trail was mostly flat, wide enough to accomodate the traffic and to our liking there weren't any major intersection that would make us stop so the ride was nicely smooth all the way. From Woodinville it gave us total of 20 pleasurable miles RT.

As an avid distance runner, I havent found ANY place in the entire Seattle area as a better place for doing "long runs". On MANY occasions, I have parked at Marymoor Park and began my run along the trail. Since the trail runs all the way to Gasworks Park in Seattle (27 miles one way), you can run, bike, or rollerblade all day long! There are several restrooms and drinking fountains along the way to aid in your workout (or leisurely stroll). You can even see some farm animals in the stretch between Sixty Acres Park and Bothell! :)
