White Salmon River, Washington: Above Trout Lake to Northwestern Day Use Area Professional Review and Guide
"The White Salmon is one of the region's most popular rivers, set in a beautiful, deep gorge that separates boaters from populated lands. Although roads are not far from the river in any section, access is next to impossible except at a few specific locations where boaters could scramble up steep banks.
The water is always icy cold here, usually 40 degrees Fahrenheit, which can catch summer boaters unprepared. The water is exceptionally clear, filtered underground and emerging in numerous springs. It's amplified with snowmelt from Mount Adams, providing adequate flows throughout the year."
