Clara and Marion Lakes Trail

Clara and Marion Lakes Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Small, shallow Clara Lake is surrounded by fir and larch trees, with meadows and a rock slide at the end of a very steep trail. Because the lake bottom is sand, children can safely play in water warmed by summer sun. On a hot day even parents will want a refreshing wade.

Try this hike in late September or early October, when the larch trees have a golden glow. Children attempting this hike should be strong and accustomed to steep trails, as this one is a huffer-puffer, climbing 900 feet in 1 mile. The good part is the trail is short. The bad part is that it is open to motorbikes and horses."
