Kooskooskie-Cottonwood Ride Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Face it: Kooskooskie, that tiny unincorporated spot on the map just to the right and a little below Walla Walla, is fun to say. Try it: Kooskooskie. It makes for a fun ride too—a 15-mile (one-way) jaunt in which the landscape transforms from open fields of waving grain to a forested canyon in the lower reaches of the Blue Mountains. Turn around where pavement ends (and Oregon begins) and enjoy a killer return ride. The route finishes with a 12-mile loop past orchards, vineyards, and of course, wheat fields, south of town.
Enjoy the lazy, slightly uphill meander past orchards, tony wineries, and vienyards, and to the left, amber Walla Walla wheat fields. Rushing Mill Creek chatters through greenery in the hollow to the right. The rural road is somewhat narrow and the shoulder vague, but traffic is light and hopefully, the multiple "Bikes on Road" signs alert drivers to your presence. These signs are on most roads throughout this route (creepily, it's not unusual to see one riddled with bullet holes)."
