The old Milwaukee road railway slices eastward from the Columbia River through the heart of the Crab Creek Wildlife Area. Rambles through the open desert can be fun, but following the old railway provides a flat, easy trail trek. The Washington State Department of Natural Resources maintains the road-to-trail conversion as a nonmotorized trail. It rolls through broad sagebrush flats, past deep, trout-rich Nunnally Lake, and through the dunes in the heart of the Crab Creek Coulee.
