Sleeping Beauty Trail to Sleeping Beauty Peak

Sleeping Beauty Trail to Sleeping Beauty Peak Professional Review and Guide

"Hike to an abandoned lookout site high on a jagged rock ridge above the Trout Lake Valley. This trail is maintained by Ralph and Virginia Preston under an agreement with the Forest Service. Sleeping Beauty Trail is open only to hikers from June 15 to November 15.

Cliffs surround the summit area of Sleeping Beauty Peak on three sides, and the last few yards to the lookout site are an exposed rock scramble. This is no place to let children run ahead unsupervised."

Beautiful, striking view of Mt. Adams at the top. I really enjoyed this hike. The first mile is breathtaking in the cardio way more than the striking beauty way. Steep though it is, even those that don't appreciate a workout will likely think the effort pays off. The trail is also extremely well-maintained with most invasives kept in check.

On a sunny day, you get one of the most fantastic 360' views. It is a tough trail if you are in as bad a shape as I've let myself get in, but it takes about an hour for me, and its always worth it when I'm at the top. You are going to want a lot of liquids and comfy hiking shoes because it is difficult and steep terrain going up! Give yourself extra time for breaks along the way.
