Placid Lake Trail to the PCT

Placid Lake Trail to the PCT Professional Review and Guide

"Without losing or gaining much elevation, hike to Placid Lake. Then climb the moderate grade to the views and flower-covered meadows next to the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT).

The wide, smooth Placid Lake Trail crosses a wooden bridge as it leaves the trailhead. The Indian Heaven Wilderness boundary is quickly passed as you hike southwest through the fir and hemlock forest. Soon the route begins to descend very gently. The trail forks 0.5 mile from the trailhead, at 4,040 feet elevation. The fork to the right (nearly straight-ahead) crosses a tiny meadow and reaches Placid Lake’s northwest corner in a few yards. Turn left at the fork and soon come to another fork."
