Looking Glass Lake Trail

Looking Glass Lake Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Pine forests give way to basalt lava beds as you climb east along the Pacific Crest Trail to the timberline on graceful Mount Adams. This wonderfully formed mountain is one of the youngest of the big volcanoes, and as such, hasn’t yet lost its smooth cone shape to the forces of erosion.

The only thing that could make the mountain more attractive is to see it reflected in the cold waters of a wilderness lake. Looking Glass can’t truthfully be called a lake—it’s far too small for that—but when the winds are calm and the air is clear, the tiny tarn does reflect the face of Adams as well as any looking glass."
