"The land that comprises Sun Lakes State Park was purchased over the years in fifteen pieces. The last big chunk was obtained by the state in 1972, when it was bought from the Bureau of Land Management. The desertand lake-filled park now encompasses more than 4000 acres in and around Grand Coulee. Park Lake is the largest of the lakes in the park, and this trail climbs a picturesque canyon along the lake’s eastern flank, providing stunning views of the park."
