A four-hour scenic boat ride up Lake Chelan to the small mountain town of Stehekin and an 11-mile bus ride that conveniently stops at the Stehekin Bakery eventually brings you to the trailhead. From there, the trail takes off up a long, remote valley to stunning high country and endless opportunities for exploration. Best of all, you can do this as a thru-hike by exiting through Railroad Creek to the Lutheran-based community of Holden Village, where you’ll find showers and accommodation. Another 10-mile shuttle (or hike, if you’re feeling really ambitious) brings you back to Lake Chelan.
