"First climb the moderately steep Trail 110, gaining over 1,600 feet of elevation.

Then follow the Mount Kit Carson Loop Road (which is closed to unauthorized motorized traffic) as it descends very gradually through the diverse mountain forest, before retracing your steps for the last 1.8 miles to the Entrance Loop Trailhead. Watch for the fairly common white-tailed deer all along this hike."
