Cheever Lake-Headquarters Trail

Cheever Lake-Headquarters Trail Professional Review and Guide

"A bird-watcher’s paradise, the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge is also a nice place for bird dogs. It’s also good for dogs not bred for hunting, because the Turnbull is closed to sportsmen, making it an ideal year-round hiking destination.

Spring is the best time, with agreeable temperatures, scores of breeding birds, and meadows streaked with flowers. There is a downside to alla primavera though: mosquitoes and ticks can be real buggers. Time your visit accordingly."
