In an area of abundant alpine lakes, Snoqualmie Lake might not be the biggest, remotest, or perched in the most beautiful setting. But this large lake set in old timber and surrounded by rocky, rugged terrain boasts an attribute that many of the nearby lakes can’t—a good chance for solitude. The hike to the lake also passes by several quite stunning waterfalls, and the low elevation means that snows come late and leave early, making this trip a good choice for the fi rst or fi nal overnighter of the season.
