Lodge Lake Trail

Lodge Lake Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This section of the Pacific Crest Trail 2000 (PCT) is not the most scenic trail near Snoqualmie Pass. Most hikers are heading toward popular trails in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness on the other side of I-90. The PCT heads south under the ski lifts and in summer the slopes are bare—at least at first glance. Day hikers often spurn this stretch of the trail as it is never far from the I-90 corridor, the ski lifts, and the blight of clear-cuts.

What makes this hike interesting for wildflower enthusiasts is finding the different flowers and shrubs that grow in disturbed habitats and comparing it to habitat that has not been disturbed by Man. The habitat under the ski lifts provides an interesting cast of floral characters: You may find some floral villains mixed in with subalpine plants. Relief from civilization is at hand; once you have hiked beyond the ski slopes, solitude is almost a given."
