The tunnel is re-opened and the hike through was awesome. Few must know tunnel is open again. Only my wife dog and I walked through it and encountered no one in and out. Easy hike, flat and solid. A great experience

Our family had a great time on this ride. We had our 4 year old son in a bike trailer and our 7 year old daughter on a tag-a-long. The gravel surface was easy to ride on and the tunnel was "spooky" enough to capture the interest of the kids. Every one says this, but pack a sweater or coat for inside the tunnel. It was almost 80 degrees, but it was cold enough inside the tunnel to see my breath. Also, we continued west after we completed the tunnel and the going was so easy, that we almost forgot it would be uphill on the way back. Those three miles back up to the tunnel pulling the kids were pretty hot, but still not bad. Rail trails are the best!

If you can get to this trail do so. The tunnel is a blast to ride through just be warned that there is spots where cold water(ice cold) drips down from the ceiling of the tunnel. The trail from the tunnel to the lower end of the trail is a decent grade. Not too steep but constant enought to give a good work out. There are also a couple of bridges that you go across as well. All in all I recommend this for at least a must do day trip. Just start at exit 38 on I90 that way the return is down hill. Also it kinda makes the tunnel a reward for the 15 miles up hill.
