Tonga Ridge Trail

Tonga Ridge Trail Professional Review and Guide

"A trail gradual enough to stroll with small children climbs easily to meadowlands, with views of Glacier Peak and the Central Cascades. In fall, there are huckleberries to pick; on early summer mornings, children can watch for deer."

This is a great day hike, you have many options and it is definitely a trail worth taking. Halfway to Fisher lake you can go up a steep incline to to Sawyer Pass, which gives panoramic views of Mt. Rainier. Once you climb and hike the ridge way it opens up to a beautiful clearing that is especially magnificent during the fall with fall colors covering the ground all around you. There are many trails leading you in different directions but the one to Fisher lake is tagged, so follow the ribbons and climb up and over the creek bed and you should be at the lake in a half mile or so.
