Road 6410 West Fork Miller River

Road 6410: West Fork Miller River Professional Review and Guide

"Cascading West Fork Miller River waters roar as constant companions on this deteriorated mine-to-market road. Walking on much of the old road, identified as FS Road 6410, is now like walking on an uneven, well-worn streambed. Weather and water have eroded much of the road that is now the hiker’s tread. The old road parallels the West Fork Miller River. There are no really outstanding views of the mountains, but the hiker is rewarded with several views of the tumultuous course of the Miller River and an occasional view of the surrounding mountain peaks.

This is remote country. Solitude. The valley is removed from the hurry-up of the very popular Lake Dorothy/East Fork Miller River, east of the 5500-foot ridge separating the two valleys. This could serve as an easily accessible objective for early season hiking. As this lies deep in more remote areas of the Cascades, it may offer snowshoe opportunities when the Lake Dorothy Road opens in early spring. The tread appears to be too treacherous for equestrians."
