Johnson Ridge Trail

Johnson Ridge Trail Professional Review and Guide

"There's a saying among some hard-core mountain bikers: "If you ain't walkin', you ain't ridin'." They're talking about doing trails a little beyond your capability to test your limits. The Johnson Ridge Trail #1067 is such a test for even the most advanced mountain biker. From the first pedal stroke this 4.1-mile (each way) outing is a physical and technical challenge, first climbing on a loose, steep, rocky roadbed, and then on a hard-packed vertical trail with root and rock hurdles on steep grades.

The views are worth the effort, though; the Cascades views at the start and on Sunrise Mountain are mere teasers for the panoramas from Scorpion Mountain at the far end of the route. As of 1998, this is the only trail in the Skykomish Ranger District open to mountain bikes-don't ruin it by pedaling into the wilderness."
