Peek-a-boo Lake Trail

Peek-a-boo Lake Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Peek-a-boo Lake sits in a peaceful little cirque on a ridge high above the Sauk River. And while this backcountry lake certainly makes for a delightful destination, it’s the journey that really ranks supreme. En route be mystified by primeval forest and marvel at marshy meadows. Best of all, find more than just peekaboo views out to the prominent peaks White Chuck and Pugh.

Begin on an old logging road in scrappy forest, and after 0.3 mile pick up true trail in impressive old growth. Side-sloping, switchbacking, and with occasional direct attacks straight uphill, the rough-at-times trail makes its way up a thickly forested 4350-foot ridge. All the while, massive hemlocks, firs, and cedars as well as babbling brooks and a lush understory of greenery draw your attention away from the climb."
